Yoga for Helping Professionals: Incorporating Yoga in Clinical Practice and Preventing Clinician Burnout

In this experiential workshop, clinicians will learn how yoga based interventions aid in clients’ healing. Participants will gain knowledge of the nervous system and explore current research supporting how yoga improves conditions for wellness. Clinicians will participate in a trauma sensitive, slow flow and restorative yoga practice, as well as deep relaxation. Attendees will practice and apply techniques that can be used on the couch and on the yoga mat, and depart with an abundance of holistic tools to complement traditional psychotherapy. Please wear clothing suitable for practicing basic yoga techniques. All levels of ability will be accommodated.

Perinatal Mood & Anxiety Disorders: Diagnosis, Current Research, and Providing Effective Treatment

Perinatal Mood and Anxiety Disorders (PMAD) occur in 1 in 5 pregnant mothers, and 1 in 7 new mothers. Experts agree that this statistic may be drastically underestimated, as more than 80% of new moms don’t seek help. Despite the pervasiveness of this diagnosis, most medical and mental health professionals receive very little education about maternal mental health. In this workshop, clinicians will gain an understanding of the range of PMAD diagnosis, risk factors for developing a PMAD, and the treatment available to new mothers. PMAD survivors will share their stories of recovery, and participants will apply treatment techniques in small groups. Attendees will leave armed with education and tools to support mothers’ mental health during the perinatal and postpartum period.

Fee: $129.00

Continuing Ed. Hours (CEH): 5.00 Clinical
